Pentecost WorshipSunday, May 19th 4:00 pm | In the Sanctuary
Join us at 4:00 pm on May 19th for Pentecost Worship with Restoration Place Church, a nondenominational black church who worships online and, once a month, in person, at Duke Memorial. Restoration Place was launched in September 2017 by Pastor Eric Smith out of a desire to 'establish a safe space where God's people could reconnect and be restored." As well, the congregation is intentional in their engagement beyond the walls of their church, serving those in need, engaging in conversation, and offering support, healing and restoration in their community. When asked "Why worship with Duke Memorial?", Pastor Eric replied, "Pentecost started when people of different cultures and backgrounds united in one place and allowed the Spirit of God to connect them in unimaginable and powerful ways! We believe sharing this worship space and connecting with Duke Memorial will empower us all to be greater witnesses of God's love through unity and restoration." |
Sound BathThursday, May 23, 7:00-8:00pm in the Sanctuary. A sound bath is a meditative experience where participants are bathed in a variety of sounds. Instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and chimes create a calming atmosphere, promoting rest, relaxation, and recentering ourselves on God. Participants should bring comfortable clothes, a mat/ towel and a pillow as well as a bottle of water.
