Youth Ministry

Welcome to Youth Ministry at Duke Memorial!  Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming place for youth in grades 6-12 to explore and practice Christian living.

OUR YOUTH are not just “consumers” of youth ministry, but are active pilgrims and leaders themselves.  They participate in worship, contribute to our mission outside the congregation, and share their lives with each other, their peers, families, and other adults.  Youth and adults are partners in ministry–together, we explore what it means to live a life of faith.  Click here to learn more about our activities and ministries.

ADULT LEADERSHIP TEAM:  Parents of current youth and other adults (must be at least 5 years older than the oldest youth participant) who are called to youth ministry provide a fun and loving team of support for our young people.  The church conducts background checks on all adult advisers and practices Safe Sanctuaries to safeguard the health and safety of our youth.  Monthly team meetings (first Saturday of the month, 8:30 a.m.) help keep us all moving in the same direction.

COMMUNICATION:  Weekly emails (“Youth News”) and this website help youth and their families stay in touch with what’s happening in Youth Ministry.  To be added to the email distribution list, contact the Minister of Youth and identify your connection to the program.

FUNDING:  We are blessed with a generous congregation and a healthy budget.  The church supports weekly programs for all youth, keeping out-of-pocket expenses to a minimum.  Youth also do fund-raising for specific projects such as summer missions.  Parents help by providing one or more meals per semester for Sunday school and/or DMYF (click here to see Youth Meals schedule). Youth pay to participate in retreats and special events that carry a higher price tag.  We are able to offer sponsorships to youth and families who need them.  Requests for financial assistance should be addressed to the Youth Minister.
